A charging point for an electric car is mounted by the parking space and wired to its own fuse with residual-current protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find the answer? Get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger?

You do not apply for a permit, but the installation has to be carried out by an electrical installer with the right qualification and notified to your grid operator before the charger is connected. That notification is filed as part of the job.

What does fault finding cost?

The cost is driven by how long the fault takes to locate, and that depends on whether it is constant or comes and goes. A fault that strikes at random needs measurement at several points – we tell you as soon as we know which it is.

Can I replace a socket myself?

Replacing an existing socket counts as fixed installation work and may only be done by someone with the right qualification. Changing a bulb, a fuse or an inline switch on a lead, on the other hand, is yours to do.

What do I do when the fuse keeps tripping?

A fuse that keeps tripping usually means the circuit is overloaded or an appliance has an earth fault. Unplug whatever was connected most recently and call us – we measure our way to the circuit and the appliance involved.
